Females Only 2nd Annual

Beginners Shooting Experience Trap Shoot

October 1st 2011, 1PM to 4PM

 

 

Dragoon Trail Chapter, Izaak Walton League

Would you like to learn how to shoot a shotgun, but have not tried it before?

Have you had an inkling you would like to try shooting clay targets (Trap) with other beginners of the same gender?

Would you like to learn from other females who are experienced shooters?

Then try this experience.

 

Who: Designed specifically for beginners-female gender-youth (12+

through adult to 100+)

 

What: Have fun and make new friends

Learn how to shoot shotgun

Learn the fundamentals of clay target shooting

 

When: October 1st, 1PM to 4PM (12:30-1PM Registration)

 

Where: Dragoon Trail Chapter, Izaak Walton League, 4857 NE 110th Ave, Elkhart,

IA. 50073 (go to http://www.ankenyikes.org for map.

 

Why: Because the Izaak Walton League has had special requests to hold a beginning women's trap shooting class.

 

What to expect:

 

1) Register: Send name, address, phone number, e-mail to:

Char - see below

2) Receive instruction on the basics of a shotgun and fundamentals of trap

shooting. Individual and group pictures taken on site.

3) Shoot clay targets (Trap) with other beginners and with a coach.

Name drawings for prizes.

4) Quit when you want to. Continue if wanted. No pressure to continue if

you do not like the experience.

5) $4 charge per round (25 targets)

What to bring to the event:

1) Shotgun (DNR inspected shotguns will be provided if you do not have

access to a shotgun)

2) Ammunition (12 and 20 gauge) available for purchase on site or bring

1 to 4 boxes depending on your plan for shooting. ( 20 gauge-7 ½ or 8

shot- trap loads for DNR issued shotguns)

3) Ear plugs and safety glasses (will also be available on site)

4) Not necessary, but preferred: Shooting vest or pouch for ammunitionneed

belt for pouch. Vests available for use on site--no fees/charges.

5) Sign-in the afterrnoon of the event at the Dragoon Trail Chapter

clubhouse-address above. Refreshments and treats all afternoon. Door

Trap Shooting -

 

The Ankeny Izaak Walton League held a "Ladies Only Beginning Trap Class" Saturday, October 9, 2010. The club was hoping for at least 15.... 52 fearless women attended and did a fabulous job!! Thank you to the many members who gave their time to assist all of us newbies with their great instruction and patience!! Well done Char and the Ankeny Ikes!! Special thanks go out to the DNR and club members who provided the firearms for the event!!
